Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, on Monday received Shaikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of Emirates Padel Tennis Association, and members of the board of the association.

During the meeting, Shaikh Hamdan emphasised the importance of providing all support for the newly established association in order to help it achieve its national mission.

The Crown Prince also gave directives for employing state-of-the-art technologies at padel tennis courts in the UAE and for promoting the sport through mainstream and community media.

On his part, Shaikh Saeed thanked Shaikh Hamdan for his support for the association, sports and padel tennis in particular.

padel tennis, or just padel, is a relatively new but increasingly popular sport, which was developed in the late 1960s in South America, involving a stringless racket on a court smaller than a tennis court. It brings together a combination of other racket sports, such as tennis, real tennis and squash, and is played in doubles format outdoors or indoors.
