Dubai: Some of the most promising tennis youngsters will be in action over the next two weeks as the UAE plays host to a couple of tournaments on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) calendar starting this week.

The Second UAE Fujairah Junior Cup will be held at the Fujairah Tennis and Country Club (FTCC) from October 31 to November 5, while the 15th Dubai ITF Junior Championships will get under way at the Dubai Aviation Club from November 7 to 12.

The Fujairah competition is a Grade 5 event, while the 15th edition of the Dubai event is a Grade 4 competition with the qualifying and main draw having a full field of 32 players each.

Meanwhile, the qualifying rounds for the Second UAE Fujairah Junior Cup got under way at the FTCC on Saturday with top seed Antonio Muniz Hidalgo of Spain, joined by another seven players directly in the second round with a bye.

In the girls side of the competition, Safia Plotnikova of Russia has been given a first round bye along with another eleven players that includes second seed Sonashe Bhatnagar of India, Shakhzoda Asimova of Russia and Mille Elsborg of Denmark.

In the main draw of the competition, Dalibor Svrcina of the Czech Republic is the top seed for the boys, while Mariam Dalakishvili of Georgia is heading the field in the girls competition.
