Argentinian searches for answers as Murray claims World Tour victory
London: Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro was left groping for the answers following his loss to home crowd favourite Andy Murray at the year-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on Sunday.
"What can I say? I have no answers at the moment," Del Potro said at the post-match conference after losing in three sets to the Briton.
Nearly down and out after Murray had gone on to take a 5-0 lead in the first set — where he also got attention for a bleeding nose — Del Potro fought back in the second to draw level and then frittered away in the third 2-6.
Tough clash
"It was kind of strange and I really don't have any answers. Against Andy the matches are always tough and we play three sets each time," Del Potro said.
"My nose, I have a big nose, so that's the problem," he smirked. "But I think Andy played great tennis in the third set and he has a bit of luck with him. And you do need a bit of luck in such matches. And today the luck was with him," he said.
After losing the first set 3-6, the lanky Argentinian swept off the home favourite to take the second set 6-3.
However, that was the end of his on-court brilliance in front of a capacity crowd on the night as Murray broke early and then never really looked back.
