Dubai: Hao-Ching Chan and Zhaoxuan Yang completed the quarter-final line-up in the women’s doubles with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 win over Andreja Klepac and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez at the Dubai Duty Free Women’s Open on Wednesday.

The pairing from China and Taipei will now meet third-seeded Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova from the Czech Republic for a place in the semi-finals. The Czechs had defeated Raquel Atawo and Anna-Lena Groenefeld 6-4, 6-4 on Tuesday night to advance to the next round.

The top two pairings also made it through to the last eight stages with top-seeded Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina swathing aside Shuko Aoyama of Japan and Dubai-based Katarina Srebotnik 6-1, 6-2. The top seeds will now meet the all-Japanese duo of Miyu Kato and Makoto Ninomiya in the quarter-finals.

The second seeded duo of Latisha Chan and Andrea Sestini Hlavackova also advanced with a comparatively easy 6-3, 6-1 win over Nadiia Kichenok and Anastasia Rodionova where they will play Alicja Rosolska and Abigail Spears in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
