The legendary Bjorn Borg will lead the cream of senior tennis players into Dubai for the Legends Rock Dubai event to be held here from November 8-10.

Borg, winner of 57 ATP Tour singles titles, will be joined for a two-day competition by Romanian Ilie Nastase, German Wimbledon champion Michael Stich, Frenchmen Guy Forget and Henri Leconte, Indian Vijay Amritraj and eternal tennis showman, Mansour Bahrami.

"The aim of this event is to combine tennis greatness and the element of fun," stated Farbod Dowlatshahi of organisers Delwood Consultancy Services (DCS).

Farbod Dowlatshahi, along with his younger brother Mehbod and fellow Iranian Mansour Bahrami, were the ones primarily responsible for convincing Borg to step out of retirement after nearly three years off the seniors tour.

"The UAE hosts two of the best tournaments on the ATP and WTA Tours. The Dubai Seniors Tennis Championship will fit in perfectly to raise the profile of the sport further," Farbod added.

The Legends Rock Dubai event will be hosted alongside Phil Collins's farewell concert and his charity organisation The Little Dreams Foundation, on November 10.

Last year's fund-raiser in Geneva managed more than 400,000 Swiss Francs (1.21 million) for The Little Dreams Foundation.

This time the organisers have targeted in excess of $100,000 (Dh367,800), which will be used for supporting special talents in arts and sports from the UAE.

Established in 2000 by Phil Collins and his wife Orianne, The Little Dreams Foundation has famous personalities such as Nick Faldo, Tina Turner and Yannick Noah involved with it.

The Legends Rock Dubai will consist of three days of tennis including a Pro-Am for sponsors and supporters on the opening day at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Also planned are a series of exhibition matches and special programmes for children between 4 to 16 years.

"Our aim is to make this event affordable to all. Accordingly, we will price the tickets very low so that tennis enthusiasts can come and have a moment of a lifetime," stated Mehbod Dowlatshahi.

Eric Gottschalk will be the Tournament Director, while former Swedish player, Mats Thyren will be the Director of Business Development.
