Dubai: Avinash Bhaskar stunned top seed Pranav Walia to enter the boys under-14s final at the 25th UAE Open Tennis Championships being played in Mirdiff.

Bhaskar won 7-5, 6-4 against the top seed to set up a clash against Kirk Rebuyas, who got past second seed Marwan Al Kaisi in the lower half of the draw.

Top seed Daniel Dupont kept up his steady string of performances with an easy 6-1, 6-2 win over Saoud Al Ali from Fujairah to enter the semifinals of the boys under 16s.

He will meet Rohit Kambhar after the Indian teenager got past Mohammad Al Janahi 6-3, 6-1.

In the lower half, third seed Julien Monti secured a 6-0, 6-2 win over Abdul Rahman Al Janahi while second seed Abdullah Al Ali beat Ammar Behroozian 6-3, 6-2 in the other quarterfinal.

Fahad Al Janahi will meet Alexey Poperin in the boys under-10s final. Al Janahi beat Abdullah Ahli 6-3, 6-2, while Poperin got the better of Kareem Allef 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.

The quarterfinal line-up for the men's singles is led by top seed Troy Gillham. Other quartefinalists are Khalid Al Hassani, Ali Sharif, Neil Bulilan, Daniel Dupont, Hamad Abbas Al Janahi, Rabbah Fattah and Gregory Howe.

The finals will be played from 5 pm tomorrow in Mirdiff.
