Dubai: Belgium, the Philippines and the UK all registered convincing wins on the third day of the 19th Nations Cup tennis tournament at the Al Nasr Leisureland.

Belgium brightened their chances for a berth in the last four with an easy victory over Lebanon and the Philippines secured an equally convincing 2-1 win against Holland in the men's competition.

Dries Depla thumped Elie Abi Aad 6-0, 6-0 and Gudo Van Romoay thrashed Saif Al Din Eisa 6-0, 6-0 to complete the win for Belgium.

In the other match, Ilak Tabura gave the Philippines the lead with a 6-0, 6-3 result against youngster Ryan Addison, while Martijn was made to work hard for a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 win against Neil Bulilan.

In the doubles, Bulilan and Tabura defeated Addison and Martijn 6-2, 7-5 to complete the win.

In the women's competition, defending champions UK coasted to a 3-0 win against the UAE.

Sally Baldson and Clare Ceather scored a 6-0, 6-0 win against Fatma Behroozian and Amal Kambhar, while Jennifer Smith and Vanessa North combined for a 6-1, 6-1 win against Maryam Behroozian and Fatma Abbas Al Janahi.

(Ladies') UK beat UAE 3-0.
