Tournament organisers and owners Dubai Duty Free have given a wild card entry to the UAE's top player Omar Behroozian.

Also getting a wild card is Mohammad Al Gareeb of Kuwait and Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic.

The wild cards were announced by Tournament Director Salah Tahlak at the official press conference of the Dubai Duty Free Men's Open which got under way with the qualifying rounds yesterday.

"Omar gets a wild card as he is the UAE's number one player, while Mohammad Al Gareeb is the Gulf champion and it is our duty to give an Arab player a chance," Tahlak said.

"Radek Stepanek is our number 11 seed and he is ranked 18th in the world. And of course, he is the fiance of former world number one Martina Hingis," Tahlak added.

The UAE’s Hamdan Al Kamali and India’s Je Je fight for the ball during the first-leg of the Asian qualifier for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, at the Al Ain
Club’s Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium on Saturday. Al Kamali opened the account for the hosts with a penalty in the 21st minute, followed by another spot kick converted by Mohammad Al Shhehi in the 29th minute. Ismail Al Hammadi then completed the tally in the 80th minute of the match.
