Dubai: Top seed Omar Behroozian was headed towards the title in the men's category of the UAE Tennis Ranking Masters with a handsome 6-0, 6-1 win against Gregory Howe on Friday.

While Behroozian toyed with Howe in Friday's first semi-finals, his Davis Cup teammate Mahmoud Nader accounted for third ranked Troy Gilham of Australia 6-2, 7-5 to book his place in the final.

Action in the boy's under-18 had to be stalled for a day after Rashid Bushaqar Al Falasi missed his flight after playing in the doubles semi-finals at the ITF Juniors in Saudi Arabia.

Semi-final round

Al Falasi was to take on Guillaume Sabourin in the semi-finals with the winner facing Marwan Al Kaissi in the final while Abu Dhabi-based Karim Allaf will meet Majid Bushaqar Al Falasi to decide the boy's under-14 winner.

UAE junior Abdullah Ahli and Sofia Sabljarevic were surprise winners when they dethroned the top seeds in their respective age groups.

Ahli, who had accounted for top seed Karim Najia in the semi-finals, showed great stamina to outlast second seed Christian Linge in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to win his first major UAE title.

Sabljarevic showed that her semi-final win against second seed Fatma Abbas Al Janahi was no surprise by beating top seed and UAE No 1 Grace Talih 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
