Dubai:

2013 Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli is scheduled to land in Dubai on Thursday to attend the world’s first ever 24-Hour Tennis Marathon, which is scheduled to be held at the tennis courts of Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai on November 13 and 14.

The event, organised jointly by Sherriff International Sports Management (SISM) and Veracity World, is a world record attempt with six teams playing for 24 hours, non-stop.

In addition, all players participating in the 24-Hour Tennis Marathon, individuals and corporate houses that are booking tables at the opening ceremony, dinner, family breakfast and award ceremony events will bag a chance of winning the all-expense paid trip to watch Wimbledon Championships, courtesy of Qantas airline.

The ADIB 24-Hour Tennis Marathon, supported by Dubai Sports Council and presented by Huawei, will see a minimum of 76 players of varying playing abilities, compete against each other. Six teams have been already formed bearing the names of sponsors including Team ADIB, Team Huawei, Team Pepsi, Team Grand Hyatt, Team Channel 4 and Team DTA.

All participants will have an opportunity to play with or against Bartoli, and visitors to the event will have a chance to watch the 2013 Wimbledon champion play and interact with her.

The event will commence with an opening ceremony and gala dinner with Bartoli followed by the actual marathon that will get under way from 1pm on November 13 and conclude the following day. Day Two will feature a family breakfast as well as free tennis clinics and interactive games for adults and children.
