Abu Dhabi: Over 300 tennis players, from seven-year-olds to adults, are expected to participate in the UAE’s biggest amateur tennis championship at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi from February 1 to 15.

Former world top 100 player Wessels in line-up at Abu Dhabi Wilson Tennis Cup
The Abu Dhabi Wilson Tennis Cup is the first event of its kind and will feature various prizes for winners with a total prize fund of Dh47,000.
With some of the region’s best players already registered, the player line-up is impressive and competition is expected to be fierce, offering audiences plenty of action on court. Among the participants is top-seeded Emirati player, Hamad Janahi who has previously played with many of the top 50 international players and competed in Davis Cup, Dubai Open, GCC Cup among other tournaments.
Once ranked 72nd in the world, Peter Wessels will also compete and is considered a hot favourite to take the title after winning the Shaikh Zayed Cup for the last two years.
Registration is open until Friday (January 25) with 25 singles and doubles sections. Registration forms are available at the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City.
Matches will take place from 5pm during weekdays and from 9am on weekends. Entry is free of charge.
