Dubai: Wayne Marsters, below, a former Director of Rugby at Abu Dhabi RFC and Dubai Exiles RFC, has been appointed Rugby Manager by UAE Rugby.

A New Zealand national, Marsters joins UAERA this Sunday where his focus will be on schools and youth rugby development, administering competitions and coach education. He joins UAE Rugby from the Iran Rugby Association where he was Technical Adviser and Head Coach for the past two years.

"Wayne will bring a great depth of playing and coaching experience to this integral role" said Ian Bremner, UAE Rugby CEO. "His passion for growing the game, technical understanding and knowledge of the game in the UAE is of vital importance at this stage of our domestic and international development.

"His conditioning and coaching skills are also very strong and with immediate effect he will take control of the National 7s and 15s programmes in the capacity of interim Head Coach until we appoint a Performance Manager," added Bremner.

Marsters holds degrees in Exercise Management and Sport and Exercise from universities in New Zealand as well as completing various IRB- approved and accredited programmes. On moving to the UAE in 2000 he remained embedded in the sports and coaching industry and in 2006 was the Gulf's National Team's Head Coach, besides being directly involved in coaching UAE clubs as well as assisting at Dubai College.

Marsters' appointment coincides with the departure of Rugby Development and Services Manager Gaith Jalajel.
