George: South Africa defeated New Zealand 12-7 in the Cup final of the Emirates Rugby Seven's Tournament held in George yesterday in a nail-biting finish.

England were awarded the Plate Trophy, France took home the Bowl Trophy and Zimbabwe claimed the Shield.

The South African tournament, held over a two-day period at the Outeniqua Stadium in George, entertained spectators with the highest level of rugby as the world's top rugby sevens nations competed for the title. The teams from around the globe were a true representation of the world's most respected international rugby players.

For the past 10 years, Emirates Airlines has been the official sponsor of the rugby seven's tournament in South Africa and has avidly supported sevens rugby for more than 20 years. Emirates, together with the IRB, has played an integral role in the development of sevens rugby and the tournament's global profile.

Emirates' involvement in the game continues with the sponsorship of most of the sevens legs as well as the England and Samoan sevens teams.

Emirates has proudly sponsored the England rugby sevens team for the past four years. The England team were defeated by South Africa in the previous Cup final in Dubai.
