Dubai: Sabaa, the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens mascot, has been spotted on the double-decker Big Bus sightseeing tour of Dubai, taking in the sights while promoting this year’s event, which takes place at The Sevens Stadium next weekend from November 28-30.

Sabaa’s appearance on the Big Bus turned heads. But he proved a popular attraction, and basked in the attention from passengers, as well as the passers-by — many of whom waved, and stopped to say ‘hello’ when he stepped off the bus at the various stop off points.

It became clear that Sabaa will have plenty of company when the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens gets underway next Thursday. As ever, there is lots of enthusiasm for Dubai’s biggest sporting festival of the year, and tickets are selling as well as always.

To avoid the queues at The Sevens next week, it is worth buying tickets in advance. Thursday at the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens is free. Tickets for Friday and Saturday cost Dh250 in advance, or Dh300 on the day. A season ticket, for admission on both days, costs Dh400 in advance, or Dh500 if you buy on the day on Friday.

Big Bus Tours has been the official bus partner of the tournament for the past eight years, providing free return shuttles from the Sevens’ venue back to the city since 2005. Hop-on the Big Bus Dubai from the venue to Dubai Media City or Dubai festival City.

The Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens takes place from November 28 to 30, includes the IRB Women’s Sevens World Series, the HSBC Sevens World Series and the Invitational Tournament, which this year has over 200 teams and more than 3,000 players taking part.
