Dubai: The UAE lost its second consecutive pool game against Fiji 43-0 at the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens on Friday afternoon, having earlier lost 55-12 to Samoa in their opening game on their home debut as an independent rugby-playing nation.

Aminiasi Nava Kuruinovo scored two tries to top-score for Fiji, who won the opening 2011 IRB World Sevens Series event in Australia last week.

Other tries came from Mitieli Nacagilevu, who also kicked a conversion for a total seven points, while Emosi Vucago scored six points via three conversions.

Osea Kolinisau, Joeli Lutumailagi, Pio Tuwai and Senivalati Vunibola all bagged a try apiece.

Fiji came out strong in the first 20 seconds to score via Tuwai, before Semi Radradra missed the conversion. On two minutes Vunibola grabbed five for Vucago to convert. The first half was wrapped up at 17-0 after a Kuruinovo try.

Nacagilevu scored and converted early in the second half before Kuruinovo got his second try and Vucago his second kick. Lutumailagi and Kolinisau got two late tries for Vucago to convert again at the death.

The UAE’s only two Emiratis, Mohammad Rahma and Cyrus Homayoun, both came on as late second half substitutes.
