Dubai: With Tuesday marking one month to go until the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens kicks off, organisers have announced a host of activities for children as they bid to make the event a memorable family experience.

As well as hosting world class rugby, the annual extravaganza at The Sevens stadium — this year set for between December 4 and 6 — is one of the most anticipated social events on the Dubai calendar.

Special provision has been made for families, including a separate family entrance, free entry for under-12s, 2,000 designated seats in the stands for families and children, a kids’ club, creche and a whole range of food and beverages. There’s also a free bus service to family drop-off points throughout Dubai.

The Sabaa 7s Club will be offering plenty to keep kids entertained, including a circus workshop, face painting, mascots and bouncy castles.

HSBC will also offer an array of games and activities in its ‘World of Sport’ area. The games there will include an up and under challenge, green screen photo op, rugby passing challenge, tennis speed serve and golf putting challenge. There will also be a face-painting area.

Tournament Commercial and Operations Director Donal Kilalea said: “Our aim has always been to cater for all the family so everyone can come and enjoy Dubai’s favourite sporting event. Our sponsors and commercial partners’ special emphasis on kids’ activities is expected to make this year the most successful event ever.”
