Dublin: Ireland ended its difficult November with a 29-9 win over Argentina in Dublin. Flanker Stephen Ferris touched down midway through the first half and Jonathan Sexton kicked 17 points with five penalties and a conversion.

Centre Gordon D'Arcy then got a second try in the final minute and Ronan O'Gara converted.

Felipe Contepomi scored Argentina's only points with three penalties but struggled to find his range, failing with three more kicks and missing touch on a couple of occasions.

Unimpressive win

After an unimpressive win over Samoa and losses to New Zealand and South Africa, Ireland's performance at least gives coach Declan Kidney something to build on ahead of the Six Nations in February. Argentina's only November win was a 22-16 win at Italy.
