While the Gulf’s rugby fans look forward to next week’s Emirates airline Dubai Rugby 7s, the biggest rugby smile in Dubai belongs to the event’s famous mascot who has finally found a name – thanks to three Dubai schoolchildren.

For weeks, the ‘Camel With No Name’ has toured Dubai searching for a name suitable for the official Emirates airline Dubai Rugby 7s mascot.

His search is now over after the name Saba’a was chosen from the hundreds of competition entries received from young students across the UAE.

“With Saba’a being the Arabic word for the number seven, it’s a fun and clever name and we’re very grateful to the children for coming up with it,” said Gary Chapman, president of DNATA and Associated Companies, Emirates Group.

“Our idea was to have just one winner, but since three children from three different schools came up with the name, we decided to give them all special prize packs as a thank you from Emirates.”

The winning children are ten-year-old Mark Heyster from Jebel Ali Primary School, Simon Chivers, aged 8, from Jumeirah Primary School, and Tamsin Brunton from Dubai English Speaking School.
