Dubai: Jebel Ali Dragons had most reason to celebrate among the local sides competing at the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens, recording top honours in both the Gulf Men's and Women's Leagues.

Not only did their men's first team beat Abu Dhabi Harlequins 29-7 in the Gulf Men's League trophy, but their second team also beat Dubai Wasps 31-10 for the plate in that category.

Meanwhile, in the Gulf Women's League trophy final, Jebel Ali Dragons Ladies beat Abu Dhabi Harlequins 29-19 in a re-run of the men's local showcase.

In the Gulf junior divisions girls U-18 category English College beat Dubai Exiles 15-14, while in the boys U-18 Dubai College beat British School Al Khubairat 26-0 in the trophy. In the plate Muscat Pirates beat Dubai Exiles 22-5.

Veterans

The Gulf Men's Open was won by Multiplex Marauders who beat Jeddah 29-0, while Muscat's second team lost 29-5 to Damascus Zenobians in the plate final.

Elsewhere, Barasti won the Gulf Men's Social final 38-0 against Beaver Nomads in the plate while Dubai Dingoes reigned supreme 31-19 against Emirates Flying Muppets in the social trophy.

Finally, Abu Dhabi Harlequins, who had missed out on the Gulf Men's and Women's titles, relied on their veterans to win the Gulf Veterans beating Doha Dogs 12-0 in the trophy. Exiles relied upon their elders to win the plate 12-10 over Muscat.

Invitation ties: Samurai win trophy

Samurai beat HFW Wailers 29-21 to secure the Men's International Invitational trophy yesterday.

The Plate was won by Enisey STM, who beat GAC Stockholm Exiles 27-5. The Women's Invite saw The Netherlands beat Maple Leafs 17-5 for the trophy and Tuks beat Kenya Lionesses 26-21 for the plate. International Open Men's honours went to reservoir Group Pyrenees who outclassed Move One Rhinos 29-0 for the trophy and RAF Spitfires won the plate 14-7 against the Black Stallions.
