Dubai: The International Club Ladies seems to be a three-horse race as MGOU Slavyanka, The Pink Ba-bas and The Moody Cows made the loudest noise in the group stage of the tournament and will be counted among the favourites when the quarterfinals of the event are played out today.

The sides dominated proceedings at The Sevens on Thursday and going about their business won all of their group matches in convincing fashion to qualify top of their respective pools.

The Ba-bas were the class act in Group A, and beat rivals Dubai Hurricanes, Doha and Olimp 39-5, 58-0 and 28-22 in that order for their quarterfinal meeting with Sharjah, who finished third in Group B.

Slavyanka remained unmatched in Group B and beat rivals Sharjah (36-7), Dubai Hurricane Celts (41-0) and Dubai Exiles (40-0) for their quarterfinal with the Abu Dhabi Harlequins, who produced just one win and finished third in Group C, a pool dominated by the bullish Moody Cows.

Competition

The Cows were simply unstoppable and such was their form that none of their rivals even managed to score a point against them. They consumed the TOA Dubai 21-0 before turning their attention to the Harlequins whom they beat 29-0. Their last win was a 59-0 whitewash of Kuwait Nomads.

The Cows will be favourites against Dubai Exiles in today's third quarterfinal, while Olimp and TOA, who finished second in Groups A and C respectively, do battle for the final semifinal spot.

The semis will be played later in the evening, following which action will ensue for the second-tier Plate competition, where Doha face the Hurricanes and the Celts lock horns with the Nomads.
