Argentina, who were returning from their European tour yesterday, have had an eighth player withdrawn by his club from the squad for Saturday's Test against Tri-Nations champions South Africa.

Stade Francais had, on Sunday, recalled former Gloucester prop Rodrigo Roncero from Dublin, where he played in the 21-19 loss to Ireland, saying they needed him for their European Cup match at home to Ulster, Argentine media reported.

Roncero's withdrawal takes to eight the number of Pumas whose clubs seven French plus flyhalf Felipe Contepomi's Irish side Leinster have refused to release them for the Springbok Test here.

Coach Marcelo Loffreda has been forced to call several home-based players into his squad for the match at the Velez Sarsfield soccer stadium.

It now looks like the clubs will escape censure for withdrawing the players as the Test, although authorised by the International Rugby Board (IRB), falls outside the November window for international matches.

South Africa were travelling to Buenos Aires after a 45-10 crushing victory over Scotland on Saturday left them with two wins and two defeats on their European tour.

Argentina upset France 24-14 in Marseille nine days ago in their opening tour match before losing in Dublin on Sunday to a late Ronan O'Gara drop goal after leading throughout the match.
