Dubai: Layla Polo will take on The First Angels in the final of the La Martina Argentina Polo Cup being played at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club today.

Powered by hat-tricks from Ben McGregor and Ran McGregor, Layla powered their way to an emphatic 10-3.5 win against The Dubai Falcons, while The First Angels squeaked through to a narrow 4-3.5 win against The Dark Horse late on Wednesday.

While the McGregors shared six goals in their team's win, it was young Habtoor Al Habtoor and Tariq Al Habtoor got their names on the scoreboard on two occasions each. Cyril Mothe and James Neary scored once each for The Dubai Falcons, who started with a 1.5 goal handicap.

The hero of the second semi-final was TWM Morris Lowe with well-struck three goals while Niels Van Bassbank pushed in one to help The First Angels win a close encounter. Emmanuel Garboua, Adam Snowden and Annemieke Goos scored once each for the losing side.

The final will be preceded by the subsidiary final between The Dark Horse and The Dubai Falcons.

"Polo is an elegant and martial sport where loyalty, strength and intelligence are given equal weightage. Class and character distinguish polo players within, but above all, outside the field," said Caro.
