Dubai: The Dubai-based Al Habtoor Polo Team is set to participate in the two of the most prestigious polo tournaments in Europe, namely the Tonanejo Tournament in Marbella, Spain from July 18 to 20 and the St Tropez Tournament in France on August 1st.
Only last year the Habtoor team brothers, Rashid Al Habtoor and Mohammad Al Habtoor, represented the UAE at the prestigious Sotogrande 2007 Summer Season and brought home some remarkable victories.
Hat-trick
They played the Kapa Polo Tournament, Fundador Zobel Tournament and Tonanejo Tournament last season at the Santa Maria Polo Club in Sotogrande, Spain in July last year.
The team won all three games of the Kapa Polo Tournament (8 handicaps) in July last year and triumphed in one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments during the season in Sotogrande for the Tonanejo Tournament (15 handicaps) that month also.
These experiences pave the way for the team to aim for another cup at this year's Tonanejo Tournament 2008, closely followed by another tournament named "Habtoor Polo Cup Saint Tropez" happening at the St Tropez Polo Club.
The club is one of the rare clubs in France to have its own Polo School and known for hosting most prestigious and high profile horse events in the country.
It will be the team's first time playing at the club.
