Dubai: Al Habtoor side-stepped Al Amin 8-5 to clinch the Al Amin Polo Cup played at the Dubai Equestrian and Polo Club earlier this week.

The match was held to mark the first visit of Al Amin of Nigeria to the UAE.

The team from Nigeria were visiting Dubai as guests of Al Habtoor and were accompanied by a delegation of more than 100 high-level officials from Nigeria, including state governors and businessmen.

Al Amin was founded in 1995 by Mohammad Babangida. Through intelligent and dynamic play the team have become a household name in Nigeria and beyond.

Babangida with a 4-goal handicap led the side along with Aminu Alhaji (2), Bello Buba (5) and Ebrahim Mohammad (4).

Al Habtoor team comprised of Rashid Al Habtoor (0), Mohammad Al Habtoor (0), Argentinean Justo Del Carril (6) and Fernando Bourdieu (6).

Emir of Katsina Alhaji Dr Abdulmumuni Kabir Usman, Life President of the Nigerian Polo Association, Alhaji Bashir Yuguda, Nigerian Ambassador to the UAE, Alhaji Atiku Abu Bakr, Former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Suhail Al Baz, Senior Vice-President, Institutional Clients - ADIC attended the trophy presentation ceremony.
