Dubai: Racing driver Augusto Scalbi suffered a huge multi-flip accident while racing in a domestic Touring Car race in Argentina on Saturday.

The Argentinian appeared to suffer a mechanical failure at nearly 200kp/h, when his car snatched left under braking for a medium-speed right-hand bend.

The car dug into the ground before being thrown into the air and into a series of perilous flips. Debris was hurled into the air and over the catch fence, including a wheel with a solid axle still attached. No spectators or marshals were injured.

Scalbi was pulled from the car by the medical team and suffered no serious injuries.
