Abu Dhabi: iSport International's Italian driver Davide Valsecchi is hoping to take his winning form to Bahrain when the GP2 Asia Series turns on to the final stretch during next month's opening round of the 2010 F1 Grand Prix season.

"I hope I can make good results in Bahrain, but my target will be the podium in the races there," Valsecchi said at the post-race conference at the Yas Marina Circuit on Saturday.

Backed by a sturdy team, Valsecchi has been dominant in the first four races of the 2009-2010 GP2 Asia Series. The next four rounds will be held under similar race conditions at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir when the 2010 F1 season opens in the middle of March.

iSport International leads the team standings with 51 points – thanks mainly to Valsecchi's efforts of winning three of the four races here – followed by DPR in second with 15 points and Super Nova Racing and Malaysia Qi-Meritus.Mahara in third and fourth respectively with 14 and 11 points.

"The good thing for me is that we are competitive all the time. The car is good and barring the times when I have not delivered during qualifying, I think I can take a lot of confidence and belief forward," the Italian stated.

Valsecchi also heads the drivers' standings with 35 points, more than double the tally of teammate Oliver Turvey who is in second with 16 points and Malaysia Qi-Meritus.Mahara rookie driver Alexander Rossi in third place with 10 points.

"This circuit is a little bit funny you know. The early part of the circuit and the corners are fast, but then you have those two straights that give you enough chance to overtake," Valsecchi related.
