Abu Dhabi: National winners of the F1 in Schools Challenge set out for Singapore yesterday to compete in the F1 in Schools World Championships at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Centre, which will witness four days of racing action starting today. After being crowned winners of the UAE Championship sponsored by Mubadala at Yas Marina Circuit, Team Impulse, comprising six students from Dubai College, and second-place winners Zero.9 — comprising four seventeen-year-old UAE students — are now on their way to compete against 26 other teams from across the globe. Each team raised their own sponsorship, designed, engineered and built downscaled F1 model cars that won them the right to compete for the Bernie Ecclestone F1 trophy in Schools World Championship. Their efforts also earned them a visit to the F1 paddock during the Singapore Grand Prix, as well as Automotive and Motorsport Engineering scholarships to City University London.

Richard Cregan, CEO of Yas Marina circuit said, "Yas Marina Circuit couldn't be more proud of Team Impulse and Zero.9 for all their hard work, dedication and teamwork."

Members of Team Impulse are Pooja Nair, Dom Palubiski, Anas Syed, Laura Shaw, Louisa Henson and Naomi Leech while Prateek Mahindra, Saif Fazal Mahamoud, Sidhant Shetty and Vivian Anthony Britto represent Team Zero.9.
