Dubai: Saeed Al Muhairi, Mohammad Al Awadi and Mohammad Al Mutawa'a will be the three UAE representatives at next weekend's Formula Academy Euro Series in Ledenon, France.
Al Muhairi, Al Awadi and Al Mutawa'a were the three names hand-picked by a special panel of five experts led by former racing champion David Terrien, who now is the drivers' coach at the HSBC Racing Academy.
"This has been a tedious process as we had to go through more than 850 aspirants," Saeed Khalfan, Chairman of Dubai Autodrome told Gulf News yesterday.
The three drivers will leave from Dubai with Khalid Al Mutawa'a, the HSBC Racing Academy Driver Liaison.
The opening round is scheduled to be held in Ledenon, France on April 26-27.
"We have chosen the best three from the candidates we had this season," Terrien said.
This is the third year in succession that the HSBC-backed academy has been in operation.
"We have made a start and I consider this a journey. And every journey starts with short steps," Peter M. Loakman, Vice President, HSBC, said.
