Dubai: UAE rider Mohammad Al Beloushi climbed from ninth into eighth place in the overall classification among official factory riders at the end of third day at the Rally Atacama in Copiapo, Chile.

Delayed by two hours due to heavy fog, the riders eventually took on the challenge of tackling about 350km of timed special stages on the third day of the rally.

Al Beloushi had suffered from mechanical problems on the previous two days that cost him precious time and took a toll on his bike. On Friday, the Emirati rider ended up with bent rims, a leaking suspension and broken headlights.

But he said: “It was a great, enjoyable ride. The stage was amazing but the navigation was difficult and the terrain tricky at some points and super-fast in other large areas. But I didn’t make any mistakes and feel happy with the results and my team’s work.”
