Dubai: Du has become the official partner for the Red Bull racing team for the 2010 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

"The collaboration comes as part of the longstanding partnership between du and Red Bull, with du having been the local telecom partner for Red Bull's main events in the UAE throughout this year," Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial Officer at du, said.

Farid said this event is to mark the launch of the fastest mobile network in the UAE, with a speed of 42.2 Mbps high-speed next-generation network, with the fastest racing team in the world. Du has been partnering with Red Bull for most of their races held in the UAE this year.

Mobile broadband

The UAE has become one of the six countries in the world to launch fastest mobile broadband.

Alberto Chahoud, Red Bulls's regional communications manager, said: "Through this strategic brand synergy, du will reward its customers with one of the most exciting sport and entertainment platforms in the world, whereas Red Bull will gain the support of one of the leading telecom operators in the region."

Farid said, "We are happy in partnering with Red Bull and vice versa, so we expect to continue this partnership next year also."

He said the high-speed network is available to customers now and the special dongle for laptops will be unveiled within the next couple of weeks.
