Montreal: Lewis Hamilton has won the Canadian Grand Prix, earning his second straight victory.
It was the fifth win on Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for Hamilton and the 45th of his Formula One career.
Hamilton's Mercedes started on the pole position but Sebastian Vettel jumped in front at the start and led for the first half of the race. After the Ferrari gave up the lead with a pit stop in Lap 38, he spent the rest of the 70 laps trying to catch Hamilton.
The win put Hamilton within nine points of Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who finished fifth.
"Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee," Hamilton radioed in seconds after crossing the finish line. "That was for Ali."
Record breaking Dutch teenager Max Verstappen was fourth for Red Bull, finishing ahead of championship leader Rosberg who was fifth in the second Mercedes after a last lap spin.
Kimi Raikkonen finished sixth in the second Ferrari, ahead of Australian Daniel Ricciardo in the second Red Bull and Nico Hulkenberg of Force India.
Spaniard Carlos Sainz came home ninth for Toro Rosso and Sergio Perez was 10th in the second Force India.
