Dubai: Dubai Autodrome is expecting to cross the three-figure mark of entries at next year's fourth running of the Toyo Tires 24-hour Dubai endurance race.

"Dubai is already in the limelight due to this strong field of 90 cars in this year's race. Next year, we will definitely have more than 100 cars," beamed Saeed Khalfan, chairman of Dubai Autodrome after watching the VIP Pet Foods team cross the finish line.

"Everyone is so happy with the way this race has been organised that we have nearly 90 per cent of the cars already confirming for next year's race. I cannot see why we cannot break the 100-entry mark for 2009," Khalfan said.

The Autodrome chief was pleased not only with the response from the teams, but from the smooth organisation of the event too.

"We had the biggest number of finishers at this year's race and this says a lot about the way the event has been organised," he noted.

"The teams are happy and that is why they want to return again next year," he added.

Khalfan had a word of praise for the all-UAE drivers Emirates Racing Team, led by Shaikh Hasher Al Maktoum and Thani Al Thani. "Just finishing such a demanding race is reward enough and I'm sure our drivers will continue improving," Khalfan hoped.
