Abu Dhabi: Al Forsan International Sports Resort, along with Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), has unveiled an ambitious calendar of events for sports enthusiasts in the capital.

The first two events will be the ADSC’s Karting Grand Prix and Bull’s Eye shooting competition. The first round of the Karting GP will be held on February 27, the second on March 13 and the third on April 3. Eligibility to take part in the competition is aged 16 and the entry fee will be Dh400 per driver.

“We have a rental fleet of around 60 cars and the drivers will be divided into various groups depending on the number of entries. Four laps of practice will be followed by a qualifying seven laps pre-final and that will decide the starting grid. The race will comprise 12 laps,” said resort General Manager Rashid Al Qubaisi in a media briefing on Wednesday.

Also present was ADSC Community Sports Affairs Director Fadil Al Mansouri.

The winner of the Karting GP will take home Dh6,000, the runner-up Dh4,000 and second runner-up Dh2,000.

The shooting competition will run from March 1 to April 30. The entry fee for the junior category, for shooters aged between 15 and 20, is Dh175, while for the senior category it is Dh200.

“We are working towards offering world-class facilities and the resort is built to nurture local sporting talent. We have many more events in the pipeline and we are keen to make Forsan a world-class sports and leisure destination,” Al Qubaisi said.

Al Mansouri added: “We are happy to be a part of this event as we have always supported such community events. Initiatives such as this from Forsan are something that we always look forward to supporting, keeping the community in mind.”
