Abu Dhabi:  For 21-year-old Zaamin Jaffer it was an opportunity that came calling. When the i1 Supercar Series organisers contacted Jaffer to be part of the new series, he knew it was another bright step ahead in his motorsport career.

"It is easily the biggest opportunity I have ever had in my life and will remain for some time now," said the Dubai-based driver. "There will be great coverage and people will be watching how I perform. We have proven drivers and they will be noticing us."

Jaffer, who moved to Dubai aged 16 and took the podium in his first UAE National Championship race, agreed it also gave him a chance to mingle with the top drivers. "Most of them have driven the Formula One cars and the key thing is I want to do well and try and learn when you are driving or off the track," he said.

Jaffer was also excited by the fact that this series will allow him to drive on new world class circuits including the Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi. "I live in Dubai but I have never driven at Yas. I have driven in Bahrain before but not the full circuit. You know all these tracks are on the F1 calendar except for the Qatar one which is a MotoGP track. So it's a great opportunity and it's going to be fun," added Jaffer who competed in the British Formula Ford Championship in 2009 and finished an outstanding fourth in the Scholarship class.

Detailing his plans for the 2012 season, he said: "I have a few offers from single seaters and the GT. But at the end of the day it comes down to budget and sponsorship. I hope to get some good results and hopefully manage to find some sponsors. But I want to stay in single seaters."
