Dubai: Ivan Horsky won the opening final in round eight of the 2014 SWS RX7 Sprint Cup by default at Dubai Kartdrome on Monday, after Atef Al Barwani was found under the weight limit.

Al Barwani-led Horsky, Hussain Umid Ali and Abigail Birch from the outset, and had taken the chequered flag, but he was later disqualified after miscalculating how much weight he would lose during the race.

Second-placed Horsky inherited the win after getting the better of Umid Ali, and Birch, who — as a result of the disqualification — took second and third, respectively.

Drivers had raced in five qualifiers to reach the two super finals. In the second final Sam Zian took honours ahead of second-placed Umid Ali, and Al Barwani, who made up for his earlier disappointment with a third-placed finish.

Alex Connor had earlier won both finals of the Junior Cup ahead of Zaid Alami and Oliver Walton in race one and Kanal Agha and Alami in race two.

The award for best novice went to six-year-old Keanu Al Azhari, son of multiple UAE champion, Karim Al Azhari, for his impressive SWS Junior Cup

Debut. Round nine of the series takes place at Dubai Kartdrome on September 21.
