Italian Grand Prix — September 7

Britain’s Lewis Hamilton took a crucial victory in the Italian Grand Prix after Nico Rosberg faulted under pressure from his Mercedes teammate.

Hamilton, had to rally his way to the top after a poor start from pole position, caused by a glitch in his start procedure, dropped him to fourth early on. The British driver fought back and retook the lead after Rosberg made a mistake on lap 29. Hamilton with that win reduces gap to Rosberg, who was booed on podium for second straight race, to 22 points. Felipe Massa took third spot for Williams ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas.

Singapore Grand Prix — September 21

For the first time in four months Lewis Hamilton led the Formula One world championship by win the Singapore Grand Prix. It was seventh win of the season for Hamilton — that’s two more than when he won his first, and so far only, title in 2008. It took him three points clear at the top of the table over teammate Nico Rosberg, who was forced to start from the pit lane and retired after 14 laps. Hamilton briefly lost the lead to Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel at his final pit stop but soon swept past to take his seventh win. Vettel took second after a battle with Daniel Ricciardo and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.

Japanese Grand Prix — October 5

Hamilton won the Japanese Grand Prix and widened his championship lead to 10 points but there were no celebrations as the race was marred with a serious crash. Frenchman Jules Bianchi fighting for his life with a severe head injury, after being knocked unconscious in a high-speed crash into a recovery vehicle which was trying to remove Adrian Sutil’s Sauber, which had crashed at the same spot. Hamilton roared past title rival Nico Rosberg on lap 29 to hit the front and the latter had to be content with the second spot. The third place was bagged by Sebastian Vettel ahead of Jenson Button.
