Dubai: Bert Grogor, the newly appointed Sponsorship and Business Development Manager of Dubai Autodrome, promised to combine his corporate experience and passion for motorsport in his new role.

The 32-year-old from Johannesburg has lived in Dubai since May 2008 and is no stranger to the Autodrome as he has worked at the venue as a Senior Instructor at the Race and Drive Centre for some years.

Grogor said his MSCE degree in IT “gave me a sturdy technical background”, which he admits “proved to be very useful as I moved through the corporate minefield.”

Before joining Dubai Autodrome, Grogor spent a successful spell with Create Media Group where he “took on the role as Key Account Director, and together we increased revenue by 30-40 per cent year-on-year and attracted some of Dubai’s biggest organisations as key clients.”

However, motorsport has always been a big part of Grogor’s life, with various generations of his family highly active in the racing arena, both in South Africa and on the international stage. His cousin Jordan Grogor, a UAE champion, is a highly rated and well- respected race driver with Dubai- based Dragon Racing.

“Motorsport was an early attraction, which began with motocross at the age of ten but, after a few broken bones and scares, I naturally turned to four wheels in the form of South African saloon [touring] car racing where I spent 14 successful years competing. Along the way, I qualified as a professional driving instructor,”

“Moving to Dubai, I continued my passion of professional driving, working with the region’s top automotive manufacturers as a professional instructor both at Yas Marina Circuit and Dubai Autodrome,” said Grogor of his motorsports pedigree.

Looking forward to his role with the Dubai Autodrome, Grogor said: “Working at the Autodrome allows me to align my corporate experience along with my passion, which is motorsport. This forms an unbeatable formula where I am aiming to excel and excited to work with an already very successful team.”
