The exciting Formula X Sport Series will make its debut at the October 6-8 LG Super Racing Weekend as a support race after drivers in the championship voted to try out the new Dubai Autodrome track rather than Silverstone in England. The Formula X Sport Series is an innovative concept that allows drivers to compete on the same track with identical cars and for an identical price. While most forms of motor racing are prohibitively expensive, Formula X offers budding racers the chance to get behind the wheel and compete in a championship without the high costs attached to it. Drivers use the same car (the FX Sport, made in England by Van Diemen International) which conforms to F3/FIA regulations. The car is powered by a two-litre, 16-valve, all-aluminium FX engine modified to offer 200 bhp. The gearbox is a five-speed sequential change. At the LG Super Racing Weekend, the front-runners are likely to be either France’s Poron or Japan’s Yamazaki as these two drivers were well clear of the rest of the field after the first four races of the season. This championship will offer young drivers from the Middle East the opportunity to drive a real racing car and to compete on the fantastic new tracks of Dubai Autodrome, as well as the Formula 1 circuit in Bahrain, where it launches this November. Meanwhile, tickets for the hottest race to hit the region are going fast. Tickets – priced at Dhs 50 for general access, Dhs 100 for the terrace access and general access and Dhs 150 for grandstand, terrace and general access – are selling out.Entertainment on the day will included dare-devil stunts on October 7-8 by the ‘Red Bull Fighters’.Two of the world’s daring freestyles riders, the FMX athletes, will let their engines roar at the Dubai Autodrome. These high-flyers promise a show not to be missed.Another enthralling event by Red Bull will feature the ‘Local Hero Tour’ in which backflips and somersaults by the best of UAE’s skaters demonstrated the sport’s the cutting-edge routines at the Dubai Autodrome.
