Dubai: CG Racing is looking ahead to the Sodi World Finals in Le Mans next May after becoming the first team to win all three titles on offer at the ‘Endurance Challenge driven by Mini’ at Dubai Kartdrome last Friday.

Pierre Choueiri’s side secured the four-stage Pro, Corporate and Nations Cup championships with two event wins and a runners-up spot in the fourth and final leg of each respective category. They are the first team to have achieved the feat in nine years of local endurance karting at the venue and now look to send two teams to France for the World Finals.

Four events from March to December, ranging from 12 hours, to 600 laps, 700kms and 24 hours, saw CG Racing Pro record a win and two second place finishes, before Friday’s victory wrapped up the pro series with 170 points, seven points clear of Dubai Falcon Racing Team.

CG Racing also entered two teams for the corporate category. CG Racing One came first, second, third and first over the four legs, while CG Racing Two finished second, first, fourth and second. CG Racing One won the corporate series with 165 points, five points clear of its sister team and 19 points from third placed Team Emirates.

Meanwhile, in the Nations Cup, CG Racing — representing Lebanon — also finished second, second, first and second over four legs to ensure 163 points, six points clear of Dubai Five.

“At the beginning of the season, we set out to win all three titles. Today was mission accomplished,” said Choueiri, Chairman and CEO of Choueiri Group and owner of CG Racing.

“This reassures us that hard work, effort and commitment is rewarded. It inspires us to take on greater challenges and aim for higher goals and achievements in the future. Our next goal is to win the Sodi World Finals at Le Mans in France in May. CG Racing will be entering two teams.

“To our rivals, I say well done and my advice is to work hard. We are beatable, it can be done, but it’s a question of perseverance and hard work. There are no individuals in our team. The one entity that stands out today is CG Racing.”
