Dubai: UAE’s Mohammad Beloushi won the second leg of the Pharaohs Rally in Egypt on Tuesday, keeping his dream alive of a first podium finish in third round of FIM Cross Country World Championship.

Beloushi, who suffered from serious mechanical problems on his KTM Rally Replica on first day, scored the fastest times again and managed to increase the gap with riders Piatek and Salvatierra, his closest competitors.

After a long day of repairs that kept his team busy working on his 2014 model bike until late in the night, the bike was ready to go for the second day of race, but Beloushi took a cautious approach.

“The problem we had with the cooling system could have compromised other vital parts of the bike so today I went as fast as I could, but always keeping in mind my bike’s condition and paying attention to its performance.

“It was a tough day and pushed all morning and the bike resisted well. I am pleased with how things went today and I can’t believe I won my second stage. It’s just great and I am very proud of the work my team does,” he said.

The result is a welcome boost for both Beloushi and team as Mahir Badri, Managing Director at Sports2 Business and Consultancy, said: “Mohammad is a great example of what a professional athlete should be and it is great to have him as part of Sports2 family. We have been working very hard for this for a long time and we feel very proud of Mohammad’s and our Team’s achievements.”
