Dubai: Teenager Mansour Bel Helli is in a mighty hurry as he embarks on a learning curve to become "one of the best rally drivers in the world".

"For me this year is all about learning about rallying and what racing at the top level is. And I could not have asked for a better teacher than my father."

The Emirati teenager, who turned 18 on February 25, will be the navigator for his father Yahya as they embark on "mission possible" of winning next week's Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. Bel Helli has won his 4x4 class for the past few years while coming in second overall in the past two years.

"There will be several world champions this year, but for sure I will be a partner with the best, and that is my father. I have easily driven more than 5,000km in the desert, so I have adequate experience.

"Now it is time to take this experience to a higher level and start realising my dream of becoming one of the best rally drivers in the world," he said.
