Abu Dhabi: Khalid Al Qubaisi says he hopes to maintain good form into his British debut at Silverstone this Sunday with Team Abu Dhabi in the sixth round of the Mobil 1 Supercup series.

The 33-year-old Emirati driver, who notched up his first competitive points haul with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA)-backed outfit in Barcelona on May 9 with a 14th place finish from 23 drivers, said he hoped it would stay dry for the race.

"Although it's summer, you never know with England. My target is to drive as many laps as I can in order to gain experience for next season."

The only GCC-based driver in the series with the exception of two Saudi guest drivers Abdul Aziz Al Faisal and Bandar Alesayi (who are both exempt from championship points), Qubaisi sits 20th on the driver's table with two points in his first full season in the competition.

Team Abu Dhabi is fifth in the overall standings with 63 points, 89 points behind leaders Al Faisal Lechner Racing.

With the race acting as a prelude to the British Grand Prix, July 9-11, ADTA Deputy Director General, Ahmad Hussain said "This weekend provides Team Abu Dhabi with a significant opportunity to demonstrate its racing credentials in front of some of the world's most passionate fans at one of the globe's most historic motorsport settings".

Team Abu Dhabi's Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup outfit is the latest initiative from ADTA's expanding land, sea and air motorsports portfolio, which not only consists of dedicated teams in UIM F1 Powerboat and Red Bull Air Race world championships, but also the World Rally Championships.
