Abu Dhabi: Team Abu Dhabi's Thani Al Qamzi hopes to take an outright lead in the 2010 UIM F1 Championship, as he and teammate Ahmad Al Hameli take part in the Chinese Grand Prix on the Yihe River in Linyi this weekend.

The form competitor in the eight-round series, Al Qamzi currently shares the Driver's Championship top spot with Team Qatar's US-born Jay Price. Both amassed 21 points from rounds one and two in Portugal and Russia. They sit just ahead of Spaniard Sami Selio and Al Hameli by a point.

Al Hameli holds a slender lead in the pole position standings and Team Abu Dhabi are well clear in the constructors rankings.

Linyi is the first of three UIM F1 events in China with Liuzhou (October 17) and Shenzhen (October 24) to follow. Team Abu Dhabi just need to avoid damage to the boats with the packed schedule ahead.

The F4 series also gets underway in Linyi with each team launching the careers of their future F1 stars. Majid Al Mansouri will represent Team Abu Dhabi amid stiff competition.
