Dubai: Atef Al Barwani was in dominant form when Dubai Kartdrome hosted an evening of SWS Sprint races for the RX7 and Junior Cup last week.
Al Barwani headed the field of 32 drivers by winning the first and third races and being runner-up in the second, after also claiming pole position in qualifying.
Saeed Al Mehairi was next best as he had a first, a second and a third place finish, with SkyDive Dubai’s Hadi Al Beloushi next after a third and two fourth places.
One of the milestones of the night was the fact that two female drivers — schoolgirl Abigail Birch and Nadia Khan — lined up on the grid for the first time in the SWS RX7 Sprint races, with in action on the night.
In the junior section, there were race wins for Omar Alami and Mansour Al Sarraj.
