Abu Dhabi: Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE President and FIA Vice President Dr Mohammad Ben Sulayem together with Team Abu Dhabi Racing Black Falcon took off the cover to reveal the stunning all-new Mercedes AMG GT3, unveiling to the world for the first time a race car that makes its international debut with Team Abu Dhabi Racing Black Falcon at the 11th edition of the Hankook 24H Dubai this weekend.

The unveiling of the race car in the Dubai Autodrome pit lane area of Team Abu Dhabi Racing Black Falcon was attended by a large number of spectators and media, apart from officials of Mercedes AMG, team drivers and crew.

Ben Sulayem, a 14-times FIA Middle East Rally Championship title holder and an avid car collector, said: ““I’m really impressed with the international level of participation in the 11th edition of the Hankook 24H Dubai this year. It was a pleasure to reveal the AMG GT3 with Khaled Al Qubaisi and Team Abu Dhabi Racing-Black Falcon, the car had a lot of testing sessions and is now ready to go. I would like to wish him and all the drivers all the best in this year’s battle.”

“Racing in front of your home crowd is always special and serves as a big motivator for the team. But this year is going to be even more special because we will be the first team to race the newly launched Mercedes AMG GT3, which is making its world debut at the Dubai Autodrome. We of course are targeting the title, but it will not be easy with a record-breaking grid of 100 cars,” Al Qubaisi added.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be setting new benchmarks. Its DNA unmistakably incorporates the high circuit performance level of the GT production car and therefore provides the optimal basis. Moreover, it benefits from the development experience acquired during the successful racing activities with the SLS AMG GT3. AMG’s first-ever customer sports car that made its debut in 2010 has had an unparalleled career with over 200 race wins. In 2013, the competition gullwing scored the ‘Grand Slam’ with victories in the endurance racing classics of Dubai, Bathurst, at the Nürburgring and in Spa-Francorchamps.

Behind the wheel of the Mercedes AMG GT3 during the 24H Dubai will be Khaled Al Qubaisi, flying Dutch Jeroen Bleekemolen, FIA GT Cup World Champion Maro Engel (Germany), the experienced Hubert Haupt, also of Germany, and Dutch Indy Dontje, a new addition to the team.
