The UAE national table tennis team defeated Jordan 3-0 in their second match at the West Asian table tennis tournament, being held at the Al Hussain Sports City in the Jordanian capital of Amman.

UAE had earlier beaten Palestine 3-0 in their openning engagement.

Rashid Abdul Hamid of UAE beat Yazan Baker of Jordan 11-5, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6, UAE Rashid Mohammad beat Jordanian Ahmad Zahran 11-4, 11-2, 8-11, 11-9, and Jasim Mohammad defeated Luttfi Al Bouriny of Jordan 11-9, 11-6, 11-9.

With the second win, UAE have a great chance to reach the finals of the Asian table tennis championship which will be held in India from July 23-28.

However, they will have to beat Saudi Arabia and Bahrain today. The first match is in the morning and the second in the evening. In other matches yesterday, Jordan beat Palestine 3-0, Bahrain defeated Saudi Arabia 3-2, Qatar beat Palestine 3-0. Kuwait defeated Iraq 3-0.

Meanwhile Dawood Al Hajery, the UAE table tennis association board of directors chairman, arrived in Amman to attend the tournament and lend support to the UAE boys.

UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Palestine, Jordan and Kuwait are taking part in the tournament.
