Dubai: Godolphin’s Wuheida preps for a shot at next month’s $2 million (Dh7.34 million) Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf when she lines up at Keeneland, Kentucky on Saturday to contest the $500,000 Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup, over nine furlongs on Turf.

Trained by Charlie Appleby at Moulton Paddocks in Newmarket. the highly-regarded daughter of top sire Dubawi, is the 4/1 favourite to give Godolphin a first success in the contest.

Wuheida will be partnered by William Buick who bounced by from injury to partner Blue Point to a hard-earned victory in the Group 3 Bengough Stakes at Ascot last week.

The Godolphin pilot was sidelined for eight weeks because of a serious spinal injury following a fall from the ill-fated Permian in Chicago in August.

Appleby told the Godolphin website that Wuheida had come out of her last start at Chantilly’s Group 1 Prix de l’Opera on Arc day in good order. She finished fourth on that occasion, beaten a head and two necks by Rhododendron.

Her main rival is New Money Honey, a winner of the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational who returns to the grass following a fifth-place finish in the Group 1 Alabama.
