Dubai: The Emirates Equestrian Centre (EEC) will play host to the UAE National Show Jumping competition this weekend with over Dh154,000 on offer across nine classes.

The EEC show grounds are located close to Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa, and Friday day’s action will commence at 3:30pm with the Small/ Medium tour Class followed by the Medium/Big Tour Class.

Competition begins at 8am on Saturday with the Children’s Level and Intro Level which will be followed by the Small Tour, Medium Tour and Big Tour Classes at 3.30pm.

The event is part of the UAE National show circuit and classes include Young Horses, Juniors and Senior classes with fence heights ranging from 1m 20cm to 1m 40cm.

Paul McAuley, General Manager at Emirates Equestrian Club said: “This the first National Show of the season to be held at Emirates Equestrian Centre and we are very happy to welcome all the competitors and spectators.

“At EEC we love to offer a great family day out and, especially now we are enjoying the great weather, we encourage anyone who is interested in horse sport and particularly show jumping to come along.

“This national show is just one of the events on our seasonal calendar which also features a large variety of training, national and international shows covering the sports of dressage, show jumping and eventing as well as Pony Club rallies.”

Emirati show jumper Maitha Al Hajri hopes to make her mark when she competes aboard Alaska.

Entrance is free and there will be bouncy castles and free pony rides for youngsters.
