Dubai: Team UAE beat Europe 8-4 to reclaim the title at the second Ralph Lauren International Ladies Polo Tournament at Dubai’s Desert Palm last weekend.

Shaikha Maitha Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, accepted the trophy as winning captain.

Marianela Castagnola’s horse Chisme, which is owned by Shaikha Maitha, took the award for horse of the match. The award for the best playing amateur went to Team Europe’s Princess Azemah Bolqiah, daughter of the Sultan of Brunei.

Sunny Hale was the top scorer with four goals, with Shaikha Maitha and Marianela Castagnola adding two goals each.

The event also witnessed a unique All Stars match with the world’s highest ranking female players competing amongst themselves. That contest saw Team A beat Team B 5-2.

Tournament Director Pete McCormack said: “This is an historic moment for women’s polo to have such a great partnership with leading brand Ralph Lauren and to stage this wonderful Ladies International Tournament.”
