Abu Dhabi: A five-member team from Turkmenistan led by their Minister Annakuli Nurgldiyev visited equestrian facilities in the UAE and expressed their admiration for the UAE's support to horse sport.

Ali Moosa Al Khamiri, General Manager of Dubai Equestrian Club, received a memento from Nurgldiyev, who is in charge of horse affairs in his country, on behalf of Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and President of the FEI.

Progress

Ali Moosa said the visiting delegation were on a UAE tour to acquaint themselves of the progress in equestrian sport and toured many facilities in the UAE.

Nurgeldiyev was accompanied by Yusup Annaklychev, General Secretary of Turkmenistan Equestrian Federation, Bashimov Kerimguly, Head of the Selection Department, Babalyev Drazgul, deputy director of Ashgabat Ippodom and Bairamdurdyev Pygy a show rider.

Earlier, the delegation also visited the Meydan project with Mohammad Al Khayat, Marketing Manager of Meydan, taking them on a tour of the development and also screening a film on Meydan.

The team had also met with Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation in the capital before they headed to Dubai.

The Turkmenistan team left yesterday and Ali Moosa said an invitation was extended to the UAE equestrian officials to visit the country.

"We were familiarised with the different breeds of horses in the two countries and also the progress in the horse sport in UAE and Turkmenistan," Ali Moosa said.
